Your basing this on a video in which anything below the mid torso region is out of screen? The reason finger tracking is not possible is because of the number of points Kinect uses to track with. With more dots, comes greater accuracy, and so by spreading the same amount of dots on a smaller area (full body compared to half a body), more accurate data is produced for the focus areas. It's not that Kinect isn't capable of tracking fingers, but that it can't track fingers while trac...
This demo is less impressive than any of the others I've seen so far... No offence to the guy who made it. All he's doing is tracing the data points with no interpretation of them. I mean, the only thing really being calculated is the lines between them.

Yeah, that's interesting. So they'd lock down USB ports while Kinect is in use to allow more power to the one port. I wonder how this would work with the new slim 360 though, because it has a dedicated port?
I believe they've increased the density of the IR dots present on the hand by moving it closer to the source. Notice how only the top half of the body is present?
Ah k, thanks for clearing that up. So they'll be able to improve the resolution of the colour camera. Strange they didn't do so earlier though. Have you got any videos that show this by the way? I've seen several "hacked" Kinect demos, but nothing that really blatantly showed the improved res.
EDIT: I suppose the Z-Axis could also be 'improved', but that's probably my fault for jumping the gun a bit. I was under the impression that they were ...
I'm sorry, but this isn't really possible. Well, I guess it depends. Can they increase the the resolution and record speed of a camera without adding additional hardware? My first thoughts are no, but I'm not sure to be honest... If the hardware is capable, wouldn't they be utilising it? Wouldn't digital camera companies increase the resolution of their cameras simply through software updates if it were?
